Help - Sound cylinder left Stelvio 2008

Hello everyone,

I think my bike may have the distribution problem. It is a Stelvio of 2008 with 48000km.

Two days ago, after passing a 30min jam and about 15�C temperature: I started to hear a noise in the left cylinder that looked like a hydraulic hammer (clonk clonk clonk) and scared me.

Today, after 8 km in the same conditions, I recorded the noise so you can help me to know if it is the problem of 8V distribution.

To comment that when the bike is cold the noise is not heard and that I have not noticed anything strange as to the response of the engine.

Better be safe than sorry and take it to the tech. Strange it does not appear with a cold engine. The time my tappets got chewed up the hammering noise was there all the time.

Thanks for the answers.

Yesterday I checked the clearance of my valves. The right cylinder had 0.15 admission and 0.20 exhaust ... but the left cylinder (which produces noise) had 0.15 adiminsion and 0.35 exhaust .... not a good sign.

I adjusted the valves again and it seems that the noise continued to be produced ... I decided to take it to my trusted mechanic to inspect the cams and tappets.

My bike needs the KIT C, but I have seen that the difference of parts from KIT B to C is not very big ... I would like to know if with my bike (chassis number ZGULZ00088M112226, yesterday I called MG Spain and they confirmed that my Bike is 2009) I can buy the KIT B and, besides, buy the parts that I need from the KIT C .... this way I can lower the costs.

On the other hand, I understand that once the change is made to roller, it is necessary to update the map of injection of the motorcycle .... could you tell me which map is the correct one ... my motor is the A5.

I would check pricing on the B Vs C kits. The C kits includes all the cylinder gaskets collets and washers to adjust the valve springs. Can't believe it would be cheaper, but perhaps.

As for the map, yes you will need to change the map to STA42Z map once you do the conversion.
 
Just out of curiosity, what's the basic difference(s) between the 'Flat' and 'Roller' Maps?
Is it simply a slightly lower Rev-Limit?
 
The timing and mixture changed. If I recall, the roller map is a bit leaner near closed throttle, and a bit richer at higher cruising speeds. I may have the wrong, but I think that is right.
My (2009 single lambda) flats with the original map ran well. The flat mapping with rollers ran poorly. The newer map with the rollers wasn't much better near idle. Obviously the cam timing and/or lift are a lot different.
