High beam dashboard light does not go off

I was using the high beam last night in heavy rain, although I do not think the rain is a factor.
I switched it on and off a few times. Suddenly the blue dash light stayed on. I tried the switch with no luck - the high beam will still switch as normal.

Only after turning the ignition off the light will go out. It does not stay on when I use the high beam flash at the left switch gear, only when I use the red on / off buttom.

Is this a problem within the handlebar switch or the dashboard electronics?

Is this easily repairable?

These dashes are susceptible to moisture. Heavy rain may have been the issue. If the problem persists after the dash has dried for a few days let us know.

Hi,

Yesterday we had heavy rain again and the bike just parked outside in th rain. When I switched on the ignition the light was there straight away. If the likely problem is the switch, I will open it up and clean and insulate.
Any other suggestions?

I recommend covering the dash with a plastic bag if you leave the bike out in the rain. As I said, they are prone to moisture. If the high beam actually went on, it may be the switch, if it doesn't then it is the dash.

Hi John,

The Breva has been in the rain and ... snow when I was caught out for 17 years and never did I have a short. So plastic bag sounds like the wrong option.

I had the switch off and managed to reproduce the "error" when I sprayed water onto it.

The 2 wires in the circle must have got some kind of salt bridge between them. Probably 17 years of water running through the switch.
I insulated the solder points with a resin and the dash light stays off now.

Gazdok, I had a problem several years ago on my 2 month old 1100 Breva just from morning dew when camping. 4 way flashers went on and didn't go off until the dash dried out. Since then I've covered the dash when I have had to leave the bike outside overnight. Take a look at this thread. https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/dashboard-interference.12501/
