How do you feel about the practice of putting a jubilee clip on the oil filter?

I'm aware that some people put a jubilee clip on their oil filter to prevent it spinning off. I wonder if this is recommended or if there's also a risk of the clip itself coming loose? Thanks in advance.

Never heard of doing this, also never heard of a properly installed oil filter coming off.

A “Jubilee clip” ? Has this got anything to do with the Queen ?
I think the problem is usually, getting the filter off after giving it just a weeeeee bit of an extra turn when putting them on

A hose clamp (name of it as commonly known here) was occasionally used on inside oil pan filters for ~2 decades or so, mostly for racing situations. Easy insurance, but not necessarily needed if you properly tighten the filter. That said, won’t hurt. The clamp is situated to stop rotation against the casting reinforcement.
