i recently purchased an (amazing) Yamaha Tracer 900 GT and that has been my ride of choice for two weeks. Yesterday I went out on my ‘13 V7 and all kinds of bad things started happening. Rapid downshifts leading to RW lockups, pushing the front wheel on turnin, missed shifts and false neutrals. Eventually I realized that my Tracer’s slipper clutch and other rider aids were making me sloppy. The V7 is my “back to basics” reminder about how much you have to concentrate to keep improving as a rider. I love both of these bikes, don’t get me wrong. But, it’s the Guzzi I’m going to use as the ultimate judge of my riding skills going forward. And it’s the Guzzi that I’m going to invest in for suspension, fit and braking upgrades. My Tracer is the daily commuter and long tourer, but the guzzi will forever be my Washougal River Road on a Saturday morning racer.
