How to convert V7 Racer III to standard bars and foot pegs?

Sadly, this mature rider can no longer fold himself into a cafe racer shape and is therefore asking for advice on how to convert a V7 III Racer into the standard Guzzi riding position found on the Stone and Special. Specifically:

- Is the top clamp on the Racer and Stone/Special the same?
- Are the Racer cable lengths for clutch and brake long enough for a Stone/Special handlebar?
- Do I just swap out the rear sets with normal foot pegs and put in a Stone/Special shifter and shift rod?

Hoping to hear tips and tricks from those who've done this conversion. Thanks in advance.

Per the paragraphs at the top above, always first search and read before starting a new thread. The one linked below, though a different model year, all still applies. I don’t think you’ll find many who have done the conversion, though you may find someone who wants to trade. That would go in the Classifieds here.

I looked at this a while back, tons of parts to get to switch from Racer bars/pegs/shifter to Stone.

I decided to go with just a higher bar setup to start, and found that was actually great. I did not need to change the pegs or go to an even higher Stone bar.

Here is that thread: https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/racer-with-riser-bars.20235/

Todd assembled all the parts into a kit, and everything (but the bar) was official Guzzi parts.

@usedtobefast Hello and many thanks for the link above. Lots of useful pics and info on how to do this setup on a Racer 👍

There are a lot of low milage Racers coming on the market here - I guess people are upgrading to the new V7 850 - so when the right one comes along I'll be confident to snap it up and do this conversion with GTM parts.
