G'day locals, I'm jumping on board. Picked up this gorgeous green Griso yesterday.

After a couple of decades of riding japanese rocket ships, I decided it was time to get a bit of class and style in my life. Finally I own a Guzzi!

Did a run from the dealer in Sydney up through Wisemans Ferry through to the Central Coast to get it home - what a blast. Very impressed with the gobs of torque and smooth power delivery :D . Suspension's gonna take some sorting though - don't they have crap back roads in Italy?

Even though this is my first post, I've been lurking for quite some time, and I gotta say a big THANK-YOU to all members. Without this board, I wouldn't have dreamed of buying a bike I've never test ridden, let alone even seen in the flesh.

BTW: The sales guy at the dealership reckoned that when the owner saw my SE, he was smitten and ordered 3 more from the importer - one for himself and two for floor stock. The importer said, sorry, there's only 3 more SE's coming to Oz and then that's it, no more. They only let him order 1. So, if you're in the market for an SE, there's only 2 left, better be quick..... or then again it could just be salesmen speaking garbage. I guess I got lucky, the importer just happened to have one sitting in the warehouse when I placed my order a week ago

And you're right about the suspension. Once set up it's great but you really need to wind everything off a fair bit to get it to handle like a motorbike rather than a plank with wheels!!!! There are pointers here but if you'd like to experiment with my settings gimme a call. I'm a fat bastard though.....

Pete

PS You've got yer panniers on back to front! That's why they have a reflective stripe on 'em at the back!!!!

Ha, well now I know - that's just how they came. I'd planned to get a tail bag too, but all this business about drilling holes in the bodywork for the rack put me off....

Pete, I'll be making my way down to see you soon for sure :p

I just bought one of thsoe shitty $70 dri-rider bags that sits on the rear seat for my US trip in June. I've got a Mistral Hi-Pipe on the US bike so my panniers don't fit but I reckon that that and the big tank bag and 'using some of my old socks and undies as 'Disposables' will give me enough carrying capacity for a ten day trip. While I can live with the pannier racks on the bike 'cos they don't screw anything up too badly looks wise I think a rack is just awful. I can't bring myself to do it. But that's me.

Where did you end up buying it from?

Hills M/C in Castle Hill. I dunno what the policy on this forum is regarding dealers/spam, but I gotta say, they did allright by me. Only 10 days from 1st contact to riding away with a big smile on my face :D . Plus after the deal was done, they mentioned, "oh by the way" , I get a 10% discount on future purchases for life :!:

been a while since I heard a good word about a NSW dealer - especially in Sydeney! Makes a good change one thinks...

In Canberra John McRath Ford have just been appointed as our local dealer. I've seen one bike that has come out of there (a 1200 Sport 4V.) and I was impressed with the fact that they had taken on board what I had told them about PD, the bike WAS well PD's. Unfortunately the side was let down by the salesman who had not filled in ANY details in the owners handbook or returned the warranty activation slip, there was also no PD certificte completed, (Another chance for the factory to bounce warranty.) the forks were missing their caps, (Plastic, with eagles on, not vital but they should of been there.) the ECU port plug cap was missing but other than that it was good.

But then they sent the customer a courtesy letter........

Bless their hearts.....
