For the life of me I have been waffling over various small cosmetic upgrades. But one that I want to proceed with this winter is to strip down the wheels and get a set of alloy rims and new spokes to fit the new rims.
Have any of you gone down this road at all?
I'm hoping to cut off a good 3 lbs from each wheel which will tone up the suspension damping and lighten the steering loads at higher speeds. And likely as not the bike will seem to accelerate a little faster too. I'm not unhappy with the power and mostly I'm looking for the overall lighter steering in the bars and perhaps a little gain in damping after a bad bump in the road. But hey, if it suddenly acts like it found a couple of extra ponies I won't complain.
I'm likely going to talk with Buchanan for a rim and spoke kit for the bike. Or do any of you know of any other supplier that can offer up a kit of rims and spokes?
