So, I had it all arranged today, I'd take in the Norge for the repairs due to my last mishap tomorrow, and take home the new left-side pannier with my helmet inside (the old, scraped one remaining on the bike), etc. The N would have her 30k km service at the same time, and a pair of Stebel Magnum horns installed (they arrived today in the mail, whew!). And then I'd finally be "whole" again.

I'd forgotten about Luigi. My dealer fetches a pannier from his cave. Sorry pal, that's the right-side pannier ... so he goes down again, and comes up with? I suppose at this point you've seen it coming all the way from Mandello: indeed, another RHS pannier.

Curses all around, him for the extra work, me for the additional 2x 45min return metro trip to his shop that'll cost me (taking the bike through Paris is worse). Fortunately Luigi managed to send 2 RHS panniers, not 2 LHS ones, so at least I'll have 2 panniers again, finally.

As a FYI: it seems the internal O-ring seal along the inside of the outer (painted) shell has been changed w.r.t. the original. It's no longer so much as an O, it's more like a () (= an elongated thing), and much more flexible. This probably improves water-tightness despite warping lids. It clearly also makes it important to check the inside of each new pannier: on one of "my" two new RHS panniers, the seal had clearly not been seated correctly, and the lid had been closed with the seal on pannier the inside instead of between the 2 shells, over the whole rear side. Needless to say that's the one that went back!

Still a bit worried the cylinder lock wasn't thrown out with the totalled RHS pannier, but thats a different matter.

Kudos to my dealer though for understanding at glance why I had a tube of Pattex resin with me :)
