Greetings ,

Well there is fantastic news, she is alive and kicking !!!. Managed to get her running yesterday. Basically did a Mc Giver job with a surrogate distributor and a set of coils, via two batteries and a set of short custom jumper cables that we made. Only the headers on as that's all I have for exhausts, loud but brilliant... She feels very strong at the throttle , good response. The flame is now lit so we must press on. The LH cylinder was bogging down at anything below main jet , so I removed the carb and went through it. I have attached a picture , on the right hand side of the petrol feed line there is an opening that goes all the way through to the inside of the carb body adjacent to the slide base. This is unmetered air being drawn in and hence the bog more deluxe issue. Any input form those a lot more versed than I am on Dellortos is very welcome and much appreciated.

I am still in looking for numerous additional parts, so if there is anyone out there with a donor bike or plenty of spares please contact me.

As phase one is complete, I will be having an adult beverage !!!!!

You are missing the idle mix screw and its associated spring. An internet search will yield suppliers of DelOrto parts.

John, the idle mix screw is located on the opposite side of this carb. The opening is also not threaded, its a smooth bore from the outside to the inside of the carb !!!

I will search on the web for a blow up image of the carb...

I can't quite make out the markings at the top of the carb. It may be that someone modified a RH side carb to go on the left and didn't block off the slide stop screw hole. If not, and you have an idle stop screw and mix screw on the other side, then fabricate a plug for that hole and seal it well. Sometimes hard to see what is going on only from pictures and not in your hand.

Hello John,

Attached is a better image. I looked at some Dellorto carb sites / images yesterday and it appears that this orifice is a mystery. I will block as required. .

Yes, the "S" in the part name confirms it is a left side carb. No telling if the plug was removed previously, or just fell out. In some images you can almost see a cup shape plug in that spot as there is an extra circle on the inside of that hole.
