Tuned and Synch'ed
Took delivery of my new 8v SE today .
Paid for it nearly 3 weeks ago but it had to be shipped from interstate so felt like a long wait but finally over.
A few issues - after reading up on here of others experiences, totally expected them. Battery showed 12.03V before starting, an hour or so on a charger bought it up past 12.7V and good to go. Both tyres were around 4-5psi below spec. The throttle cable was a little loose but a quick adjustment fixed that. There was no pre-delivery certificate supplied and the warranty + servicebook was blank where the dealer was supposed to fill out the details and apply their stamp. Will mail the book back next week to be rectified.
What could have been an interesting occurrence was when I first started to ride off. A Hex Socket Screw M6x20 fell onto the ground from the left side and a couple of mates watching stopped me. After a bit of searching around, could not find anywhere it would have come from. It does not look to have witness marks on it but is 100% a Moto Guzzi bolt the same as the others on the bike. From what I can tell, it is part no: GU98682320 and a socket head cap screw. Going through the parts manual from off this site, I found three instances of this screw, page 5 Gear Lever position 12 (x1) and page 41 Crank Case II position 6 (x2). All three were present and accounted for so off I went. It had had a 6km PD ride and had then been trailered halfway across the country and decided to fall out then?? Anyone think it was anything other than an escapee dropped in the factory? It is now living in the tool kit under the seat in case it is a jesus bolt.
Then it was off to Qld Tpt to get it inspected so I could get a rego plate and activate my insurance - the bike is amazing, a totally different experience to the pipe modded demonstrator I rode which did not ride like this bike at all (they could not get an SE so I purchased interstate). Got a thumbs up from a bloke in a car and then had two people (a young guy on a Yamaha and an older lady who said she knew nothing about bikes) separately say I had a beautiful bike when I parked it up - never had that before.
Only did about 20km today because of time constraints but am off for a few hour ride tomorrow down toward the gold coast. I think i bought the right bike.
