I just completed my first oil change and decided to use the oil filler port as shown above. The o-ring on the plug fits into a recess and the bolt itself has a very large landing area. I found the plug to be at an awkward angle and had to resort to a breaker bar to get it loose. I figured it must have been way over-torqued at the factory. Nope. Put it back in at the spec torque and the yellow factory marks lined up.
I found the bolt to be made of cheese, so be careful...ask me how I know . Next oil fill will be through the 'late addition to the bike' dipstick port (ON THE CENTER STAND) - much easier, and you can check the level as you go - prior to taking the bike for a 10-mile ride per the owner manual ...like a dealership does that, right!
I'd forgotten what a joy dropping the filter out from under a Guzzi was compared to a cartridge. Some things never change.
BTW the dealer did the 900 miler, at ~6,000 miles the gear shifting was not great, upshift 1>2>3 and the mega clunk was fully back N>1 (the Stelvio has had the gear box redesigned to ease shifting or so I read, so MG recognized an opportunity there it would seem). Straight downshift top to bottom - smooth. It made for an improvement, so every 5,000 miles from now on. I'm guessing this is the first modern Guzzi that combines the engine and tranny lube?
Swarf and metallic 'paste' on the magnetic drain plug. Hopefully, less the next time around.
Can someone tell me the torque setting for the oil drain plug and the bolts for the oil filter cover bolts ?
Also, can I reset the spanner light myself
