Been having pinging issues with hard acceleration, not constant but enough now and then to hear above the usual symphony of oil and air cooled motor noise.
Twas time for a valve adjustment so while in there I noticed my right cylinder lower spark plug wire where it meets the boot for the spark plug was amiss, at some point it must have been sheared 90 degrees or manhandled so badly it internally broke but the sheathing was not evident of the disconnected wire.
Previous of this had thought it was ignition timing or cheap gas, but no right cylinder 2nd spark plug ignition. Had a spare longer spark plug wire for the upper plug and am using that until the correct length arrives, pinging gone.
