Question about opening a v7 gearbox

The bike got stuck in first gear, so I decided to dig into the bike and find out what went wrong. I currently have the gearbox out of the bike and on the table, but I cant seem to open it. The gearbox cover moves about an 8th of an inch but still seems to be held on by the output shaft. I have removed the c-clamp in hopes I can gently hammer it loose to no avail. Anyone have any help on how to open a v7 gearbox? There is very limited information about it available...
 
5 spd or 6 spd? Have you thought about looking in a manual? they are in downloads.

Its a 5 speed. And there's nothing in the manuals I've found that provide information on this depth of maintenance. It seems that the output shaft bearing needs to be released from the shaft somehow to let the cover come off. There was a c-clamp that I removed, but no lock nut or anything that I can see. There's also no obvious way to remove the bearing seal.

I've always taken apart 5sp boxes from the front back. Primary 1st. Then back cover with the neutral switch out 1st. AND I use my book for V35-V65 from 81. Trans hasn't changed much.
There should be nuts on the shafts you must remove, main shaft and maybe output shaft. Also take apart the shift prawl and eccentric bolt adjuster.
The next best book would be V750 IE 2010 if you are into PDF's
