Scandinavian Classic Racing Cup is on the way

Great race at Scandinavian Classic Racing Cup at Sviestad in Sweden! - and great to meet up with Åke Jonsson who visited the depot on Saturday, having a chat about engine tuning etc.. Åke has carried out great tuning of Guzzi engines for racing purposes for as long as these engines have been around!

Sunday's race was overall even better than on Saturday for the Guzzis, Knut got a 4th place and Erik a 5th. Myself? - I had a good start from 5th grid position, contrary to Saturday awful start, and I was riding in a secure 6th place when the rear tyre punctured with less than four laps to go - these things are not supposed to happen in roadracing!! Well, I can't complain as I'm happy the bike came back in one piece after a monster slide/highside-style when the puncture happened - didn't go down though! The fourth Guzzi in the class, with Ulf a Swedish rider, crashed out already early in Staurday's race unfortunately. A beautiful 1100 Sport, raced in a more modern class by Ingvar, also ran well considering he probably lacks 60 hp to the competitors. Next race coming up is Karlskoga in Sweden in three weeks!

What is that silver stuff around left foot for? Is that some kind of cool trick that we don't know about?

Yeah, it is a cool trick to keep your boots on when the legs are too fat for å normal raceboot zip to close! Sure, part #1 in my toolbox, must be using å kilometer of the gaffa stuff in a season.

Last race completed, and the Guzzis did quite well in the class Forgotten-Era1972-79, 250-1300cc.

The Norwegian championship (total of 11 riders took points): Guzzi on no. 3-4-5-6
The Nordic championship (total of 31 riders took points): Guzzi on no. 4-6-7-10
The Nordic Open (all races counting, total of 42 riders took points): Guzzi on no. 4-5-7-7(shared)

Not too bad going for the ol'Mandello donks against hyped up machines like RG500s, TZ500 GP-machine, 125+hp Suzuki 1000/1100s, British triples and a swarm of hot TZ350s plus the odd Honda 900.

All four of us Norwegian Guzzi riders in the class Forgotten Era have run 948cc engines, however with quite different specs in terms of combustion chamber, channels, piston, valves, compression ratio, cam, etc. ranging from quite radical tuning to almost original. The interesting thing is that we follow eachother at quite a similar pace on the straights!
