At a cafe stop after a rideout today, my bike is showing Alarm Service error as soon as i raise the side stand, and the side stand icon is flashing. This happens whether the engine is running or not. If the engine is running, it cuts out as soon as you put it in gear.
To me this sounds like a side stand switch fault, but it's not that simple. on the V100 it's not a microswitch, it seems to be a rotating hall effect sensor. I couldn't manage to unplug it, not sure if it is a plug on the sensor or a moulded on connector. As I was unable to defeat it, the bike had to be recovered home on a trailer. I'll phone the dealer tomorrow and see if they can collect, or if I have to use the Guzzi recovery service to get the bike to them.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so, what was the fix please?

Yes its a rotary switch (Part number 2D000530) , same switch thats used on V85 e5, which as you can see from GTM's post below can be bypassed.

The switch has been used on many Aprilia models, do a google search and you can find some solutions with pic's that people have done.

Okay, a new sensor has fixed the fault. I found a vendor with one in stock, so bought the part. It was a lot less hassle than trying to claim under warranty, which would have involved getting the bike recovered to the nearest dealer, at least a four week wait to get the part from Italy, and then get a lift to the dealer to recover the bike once fixed.
What I would like to do now is create a defeat plug using the plug from the old sensor.
I found this info on a copy of the V100 manual, but it doesn't have a picture of the plug
1. Fuel system
2. Output A
3. Ground
4. Output B

For the bike to think the side stand is up, output B needs to be high, so I assume I connect 1 and 4.
Can anyone confirm if this is correct. if so what are the wire colours , or chow can you identify the pin positions?
