Speedo cable and speedometer question.

Just got to this thread - can anyone point to where and how I can access that end of the speedometer cable?
I have a 97 Cali but assume all speeds are plugged in similar? My issue - it seems when I put the tank off and back on I might have overstretched the speeds cable and pulled the end out of the drive??? I can now move the outer protection down from the speedometer, able to pull out the cable itself so guess I need a new cable (already ordered one) but for the life of me can’t figure out where it goes into without taking the whole rear apart (which I try to avoid).

Right side of bike, at the top rear of the gearbox. If the cable came up, the ferule may be missing or wasn't compressed adequately. Just remove the right side cover and it will be right there.
