Hello,
I would like to replace my steering head bearings to a tapered set on my '03 EV11. Anyone know where I could find a set? Also need a set of fork leg seals.
Thanks
Scott

The 03 EV has tapered bearings. Once your are out (If theyneed replacing) yoku can get replacement bearings and any bearing shop. You will probably want to have the lower dust cover in stock as it usually get destroyed removing the lower bearing from the stem. As for the fork seals, Harper's sells a kit with the seals and dust covers I believe. Tricky to install as you need to have the tube in the slider before you install the seal and dust cover. Two piece (split) seal drivers or machining some large diameter PVC pipe works well for installing new seal and dust covers.

Thanks John,
I am having some head shake when slowing down, so am thinking they are either loose or maybe the wheel bearing might be loose. Any thoughts?

Could be either. Put the bike on the center stand and jack up the front. See if you can grab the sliders (down low) and move the forks fore and aft, if you can, the bearings need adjustment. Also check for free swing side to side. If you feel any notchiness, replace the steering head bearings. As for the wheel, remove it and rotate the bearing inner race with your finger, if yu feel any notchiness, grinding (gritty feeling), or stick spots, replace them. Harbor freight sells a decent internal puller to get the wheel bearings out. http://www.harborfreight.com/blind-hole ... 95987.html The bearing spacer won't offset enough to drive out the old bearings with a punch.
