NorCAl MGNOC Bodega Bay

Dan Van Zeldt organized the NorCal Bodega Bay Rally 9-30-11 to 10-2-11. Camping at Dorian Beach State Park - great group of riders and great conversation. About 20 riders showed coming from as far away as Portland, Oregon; Bend, Or; Kenniwick, WA, CA riders from Sacramento to the Bay Area - Mike from Bodegoa Bay stopped in with his 09 Stelvio. Saturday saw a great ride of 120 miles from Bodega Bay to Pt Arena and back - about half of which was in the rain.

Great looking bike!

Re: Stelvio out and about pics here...

My big trip for the year found me in South Florida. Base camp was in Naples at a Friends house. From there we went down 41 through the Indian reservations to Homestead and then hopped the Keys all the way to the big island. Since I am from there I spent a lot of time seeking out the places I heard about in family stories as a child and sampling the local seafood. Of course, We had to experience Duval Street. If you haven't been there it's a bit like Bourbon street only it's clean and it doesn't stink. After leaving Key West we made our way to Miami and Hollywood and then back to Naples via 75 along the infamous Alligator Alley. The only glitch was my right stock mirror tried to disintegrate. Time for the replacements from MPH.

Unfortunately, someone stole my good camera but I was able to catch a few nice pics with the phone.

Enjoy.

Re: Stelvio out and about pics here...

Taxed and back on the road after the winter in the garage, the Transalp is in need of good wash after the last few months of commuting, looked a bit sad in the corner after swapping them over.
Used the Stelvio to work yesterday and then a run into the south Peak District, lunch in the Devonshire Arms with real fire. A little bit of off road on the road back, bit dicy 2 up though.
Today was better after I adjusted the throttle play, much smoother.

Hopefully all the niggles are sorted and I can get some miles on this beast. Started with a 500 mile weekend. Only managed a few photos when we stopped at Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District.

Re: Stelvio Registry

Hi all!

I took delivery of this fine steed last month. I can't wait to put some smiles on it!

Two weeks into ownership now and it barely has 150 miles on it. Being in between jobs means no commuting and lots of projects to finish. Yesterday I took one of my girls out for a 30 mile ride and she gave it a 8 year old's stamp of approval. I'm planning to go out for a couple hundred miles today as the weather in Seattle is gorgeous. Being between jobs has its advantages, too. So I guess the next post will have to be to the "Out and about" thread

Cheers!

Re: Stelvio Registry

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I cannot for the life of me locate the registry. I don't have any tabs along the right or left. I figured I might get something going, but not having much luck. Following what instructions I have seen just takes me in circles.

Zoom Zoom,
John Henry

Re: Stelvio Registry

John, we're in the middle of rebuilding it, as the software is no longer supported, so we're going to manually try to update it. If not, I may go back to me manually adding them, or start a page for people to add their info, and I'll update the first post of the page. It was fun and interesting to see the VIN# list.

Congratulations on your Stelvio purchase, ducwad! I have had mine for almost two and a half years now (I can hardly believe it - time really does fly when you are having fun!) and I still love it.

They are the coolest motorcycles on the road today, bar none, IMHO. :D

Re: Stelvio Registry

This is Lucy (Lucretia MacEvil), my 2009 Stel' purchased new, zero miles late January 2012. She currently has 1600 miles, and shares riding duties with Faithless, my '07 KLR650, and Foxbat, the evil '95 VFR750F Gentleman's Express. Those two bikes are both red Red RED, and are therefore dubbed after NATO code names for former Soviet aircraft. I also used to have Flogger, the '98 VT1000F Superhawk, but she has passed on to other hands. Had a little incident with Flogger and two dogs that damn near killed me. Never brake when running over a dog; very similar to throwing a wheel chock under there. You find yourself sitting in the road, wondering WTF Just Happened Here? (Note to self: Next time, GAS it!) Lucy keeps company with my other two bikes (currently static displays), Traveler, the '88 BMW R100RS, and Many Fine Rides, Native American name for my '83 VF750F Interceptor.

Re: Stelvio out and about pics here...

Did what turned out to be a 406 mile loop today, from home in Seymour TN, up to Somerset KY to place flowers on my mother's grave. Since it's only 127 miles up there, I definitely took the long way home. These are shots of Wolf Creek Dam, on the Cumberland River. Located south of Jamestown KY, the dam forms Lake Cumberland, one of the larger reservoirs in the country. Ninth, if you believe Wikipedia. The lake is way down, due to seepage in the earthen part of the dam. The Corps of Engineers has been working on the fix for several years now, and the latest word is that it may not be finished until 2014. Had the dam let go, it would have washed Nashville away, which is a couple hundred miles, and two more reservoirs, downstream.

US127 goes from the dam through Pall Mall TN, home of Sergeant York, the WWI Medal of Honor hero. I found that a really great section of US127 from there to Jamestown TN has been ruined (as in straightened) by the TN DOT. Dig we must.

Lucy ran great, mid 40's MPG. Another great ride.
