Weird one today. Turned the bike on - V9 Roamer - pulled in the clutch, and without pressing the ignition button, it fired up. Ive got the warning light and the engine light flashing. It's running fine and I've stopped and started a couple of times today. Anyone ever experience this issue before?

All I can guess is the bike was in gear and all the other components were aligned so that when the clutch was squeezed in, you got an ignition signal so a spark plug fired and she started up. In the Model T Ford world we call that a free start and it can occur when the ignition switch is turned to battery, a coil buzzes firing a spark plug, there is a fuel charge in the cylinder, and the engine starts.

Turns out the ignition start up button was stuck. Im guessing there's a spring in there that has somehow gotten a little sticky. Now when I start the bike, I have to just make sure the button is out, and after starting it, I have to pull it back into position. Maybe it needs some graphite spray or perhaps a squirt of WD40.

Not graphite spray, it is conductive. A silicone lube should be good. It is probably just binding on the plastic. So much for the free start phenomenon.

I was intrigued by your response re; free start. In a way, that's kinda what was happening. Thanks for pointing that out about the graphite. I'll have a better look today and try some silicone spray.
