I've just had the Factory approved termigoni pipe for my Griso Black Devil arrive.
I want to have it black, or at least dark gray. Has anyone experience with either process?
I don't want it shiny, either matt or satin.
Is it aluminium outer skin?

So good to be back on a Guzzi!

This is an interesting question. I've thought it might be interesting to paint my Griso's factory pipe a darker color. Haven't done it yet though.

Here in the States we have products for painting firearms various colors---and no judgments please. The one that springs to mind is Duracoat, but there are brands as well, like Cerakote, Gun-Kote, etc. They are intended for painting gun barrels, receivers, rifle stocks etc. And they are definitely intended for high-temperature duty. In fact some people say they are more durable when baked on. (I am not sure how Duracoat handles continuous high heat though.)

Plus they come in a ridiculous spectrum of colors and finishes (satin, flat, or gloss). Duracoat is the only one I've ever used. It's a two-part paint that must be airbrushed on. It is surprisingly easy to get a really nice even finish when applied this way.

The bake-on versions might be more suitable for the continual high temp of a motorcycle's muffler. Some of them actually require full curing in an oven. Those might be ideal for a MC muffler coating. And they are all designed to adhere well to stainless steel, provided the surface is correctly prepared.

This process might be something to consider, if you think your Termi would look good in the matte dark gray finish of an M16 gun barrel. ;)

Hi, thanks for the referral

Duracoat is from www.lauerweaponry.com

DuraHeat seems the right product. I just need to see how I can get it shipped here to Australia.

The DuraHeat is good to 1800 degrees.

Regards ,
Ross.

Pretty sure the metal is stainless.
You can paint, powdercoat, or get it ceramic coated (one of those Jet-Hot type coatings that offer some heat insulation properties). I am not as familiar with the gun coatings, if you could find something that "stained" the stainless that might work well.

Darn. Looks like I may have steered you wrong. Been doing some reading (googled "duracoat australia") and read that Duracoat and some other similar products are considered too 'dangerous' to ship by air, making it very hard to obtain.

I'm sure you have numerous other options though.
