Thought others might be interested to know how it compares to the MG 1400.
I have a 2014 California Custom with hard bags and a windshield, so it it is somewhat similar to the BMW R18 B.
The BMW has a very comfortable riding position, and the adaptive cruise is great. However, it vibrates badly above 2,500rpm, and as far as performance goes, my Moto Guzzi would severely kick its azz in any acceleration contest. In some ways it is a neat bike, but I really expected more from a bike that is over $25,000.
Think I'll keep my MG for a while. 😉
 
I saw them at the dealer when they first came out--not impressed. I like the opposed twins, but do not understand the R18. The engine might smooth out after break in, but it is bound to vibrate with size and weight of those two big pistons. Based upon my experience with the 1150, power would definitely increase as miles accumulate. I will be keeping my fleet the way it is for the foreseeable future.
 
I love my R18. I'm on my second one. I bought a first edition the first year and put about 3 thousand miles on it and sold it to get the r18 transcontinental which is the big bagger fairing edition but ended up changing my mind and bought another base model. It had some things on it my first one didn't like cruise and taller seat and tubeless rims and was a different color than black with white pinstripes.my eldo is black with pinstripes. It is a rough idler, especially in sport mode. But once above about 30mph it's smooth as glass. My eldorado is a little faster, more comfortable for my height, and overall looks more awesome to me. The dealer network and parts availability is worlds better since my bmw dealer is right up the block from where I work and the closest guzzi dealer is about a 8 hour drive. I tried R18 too. I liked it very much, but legs position it's not very confortable, with feet under the cylinders...
