Well 250,000ks on the clock the “Black Pearl” went down the road. Not much damage to the bike ..broken clutch lever, bent bars, broken gear lever and a couple of scratches here and there.

I on the other hand suffered a fractured ankle, which put me out of action for the past 6 or so weeks , in which time I learnt I’m not coordinated enough to use crutches…. Loosing balance hitting the gyprock (drywall) in the lounge and causing a great fu”+ing crack. No sir there was not beers involved….liar. On the positive side I’ve learnt another skill how to repair /paint the wall without anyone knowing.

Anyway the bikes now resurrected, and like a junkie that has missed out on a hit , It’s time to go for a decent ride. The next week will see us do a quick 3500ks or so. Told Cath ( the pillion in a million) to get her electric gloves ready as they’re already starting to see a bit of the white stuff in a couple of places we ‘re going thru, and its not even winter here yet.

The accident caused me to look at a few things closely on the bike, I know it’s done a few km’s, but may I suggest anyone with a 1200 Sport, and I suppose a Breva or Norge looks at the condition of their clutch fluid… I only changed mine 8000ks ago, before things went pear shaped, but the fluid was as black as the paint job of the bike.. no doubt things staring to wear. ( I have heard its worth changing every 10,000k’s despite what the service manual says)

Other than that, the thing is as good/if not better than the day I bought it 16 years ago. (Guzzi makes a good bike, but their owners make it better)

The above leads me to this question, which I know is somewhat premature ,has anyone started to put any serious miles on their V100’s, as one day the Sport will have to be parked?

Glad you and your Moto are ok after that, your Pillion in a Million still trusts your abilities, and even got to learn new skills and had a beer out of it. Good tip/reminder also. Happy Trails mate, we're finally headed into Spring, this side up.

Glad you escaped serious injury. Best wishes for thousands more “trouble free” km/mi! I too am interested in your question about long term V100 … it would be good to know what to expect for the new bike design.

The clutch fluid seems to blacken quickly. This time I siphoned it all out of the res and pumped it through till clear fluid came out below. It's easy enough to bleed, so I do it with the brakes. Annually seems like a good idea, for the few minutes it takes. This applies to both my carcs.
Hope you heal up quickly.
