As with prior purchases, I added a Pyramid Plastic fenda-extenda (the long one) to the V100 to protect the timing system cover from paint chips, it helped but debris was still getting up on the cover. I'm not uber bike proud, though try to keep things looking reasonable (a prior (off-roading) R1200GS ended up with a really fugly cover) plus with the durability of the water-based paints used these days wanted to attempt a more complete solution.

I wasn't inclined to add a full-on engine & sump guard as offered by SW-Motech, not really necessary on a road bike - so went out and spent less than $20 on these ...

Parts

- Lowes for the aluminum sheet, Auto Zone for the protector edge. Cut the plate easily using a Dremel tool, the edges take care of themselves with the edge guard, though I removed the worst of the swarf. 6mm drill & mount to the bottom bracket of the radiator using the OEM bolts + loctite blue.

Made myself a template (attached pdf) and using some garage supplies - clear silicone RTV to secure the edge strip to the plate (at the rear side and rubber bands across the plate overnight to let it set) plus a small neoprene pad behind the plate ~ mid-way to the base to tension the plate on the cover....

....fashioned a splash guard in about an hour. I will see how it works out.
