Todd was in an accident

Thanks a ton Frank/all. The words/thoughts are greatly appreciated. It'll be a virtual Holiday Season for me. The ortho doc told me "pretend it didn't happen... begin PT immediately." Easy for him to say, I'm still feeling like I was run over by a van. I do feel fortunate that I sustained the few injuries that I did all things considered. Thanks to my friend (driver) and Saab for their amazing engineering. How unfortunate that they (Saab) announced their demise this week. A few friends are very big fans.

I have a surgery on the 29th to remove the screw in my heel, which should've been the final recovery procedure for me to be 100% again. I did get a few short rides in two weeks ago, a delightful incentive to make this recovery much quicker then my foot.

I began PT this week, and I'm still pumping plenty of meds, but progress so far has been promising. I'll be checking in periodically here, and if you are awaiting something from me, or an email reply, please be patient...I'm working through them slow but steady.

Best to the Famiglia here. Happy Holidays, Merry Xmas and the very best in the New Year.

Good news, Todd! Considering what the Saab looked like in the photos, it all sounds like a miracle. Best of luck on getting back on the bike(s) as soon as possible ...... sounds like you're chomping at the bit, already!

Dood -

You gotta stop hurting yourself like this, you're supposed to be having fun, not laying around healing.

We're all so very glad you're not hurt more than you are.

If you need anything, give a shout. I've got plenty of spare time to lend a hand.

Glad you're home for the holidays. Best to you, Gretchen, and the family.

Todd, it's good to hear you on here. I wish you the best in your recovery. You'll be riding in no time. After seeing the pics, I'm just happy you can talk about riding again. I hope your holidays are as good as can be expected. Take care.

Good to hear your back. Best wishes on this Christmas Day to you and your familia.
Heal and get well soon.

OR
Now's your chance to relax like us Canucks .....

Christmas Day, -11ºc with slight flurries outside, while the fireplace is flaming a toasty fire with your family and friends by your side.

Cheers

Thanks again for all of the offers to help, it is greatly appreciated. John, I wish my injuries were even remotely in my control, sigh. Daniel, to make things worse, this past weekend/upcoming week is set for warmer then normal temps, sigh again.
My goal is to be able to walk again and climb stairs within the next week or two (Docs orders), and my wife wants to find a handlebar and spring-loaded throttle set up so I can work it while lying around (gotta love her). Most important (to me) is to make sure my throttle arm is 100%.

Below is just a small sample of what I'm working through. The radius (far left forearm bone) was separated from my wrist, but the ortho doc was very happy with how it all went back together.

Well, those look as good as could be expected, right? Looks like you had a good bone guy..
It's gonna take a year, if Dorcia's experience is any guide. Don't get discouraged, and do the therapy. You'll get through *this*, too.

Thanks Chuck and Michail. Being in a highly populated area has its perks for specialists. The Orthopaedic surgeon was about my age and awesome.

Also, I *REALLY* appreciate the Get Well cards coming in, sure are a smile maker.

Perhaps asked earlier, but I forgot to reply... Yes, I still do have the screw in my calcaneus. Scheduled to come out this Thursday the 29th.

Glad to see you are doing better. Watch those pills. The pain pills are good but they make every thing very fuzzy.

Todd, so good you are coming around! I was a bit shocked to see the thread. Sounds like you will be in good shape by the time the spring flowers bloom!

Keep working that throttle arm. Smiles Peter

Todd, Haven't been online recently and just read this thread. Sorry to hear about the accident.Happy to hear you're going to be allright. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hi Todd,

glad you could "celebrate" Cristmas at home, with those who really love you.
Say to your doctor he made a few nice fotographs... but I can do better... B)
and nicer subjects... Nothing personal, by the way. :P

Heal well, get better soon. Enjoy your pills...
Nice to read from you after this terrible one, auch.
2012 will be better for you, must be. Hope you can ride your bikes in springtime.
