I am replacing the regulator/rectifier yet again on my 2010 V7 Cafe; this is the third one in about two years.

Notably my alternator has two wires but my replacement regulator/rectifier has three wires. So once the input connection is made, the third "leg" of the regulator/rectifier is not connected to anything. I assume that a two wire alternator is compatible with a three wire regulator/rectifier, or is this possibly the reason for my ongoing failures?

Regulator on wiring diagram shows 2 yellow, 2 green & 2 red/white
The 2 yellow goes to 2 yellow on alt
Have no idea what you bought.

I bought the first two regulators from the "Store" on this site. Attached is a pic of one of the failed regulators showing the three input wires without the plastic plug attached.

Since those two didn't perform well I bought the third one from eBay. And like the previous two regulators, it has three wires for input from the alternator. I assume it doesn't make a difference but thought I would check with the collective brain.

This one has 2 yellows, may have to change connectors. BUT may work better.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot when the regulator I just installed fails.

Something here sounds wrong to me . Regulators with 3 input leads are 'Usually' for a 3 phase alternator . 2 leads
are 'Usually' for a single phase alternator . Expecting them to work on the other alternator strikes me as IFFY at best .
