Hi,
I Ride the V100 just over a year and almost 24k km. Cold start is little difficult takes a long crancking by the starter motor, and to me it seems as if the engine catches just before I consider giving up... Whats your experience with cold start? I realize its a big bore v twin, but the V85 I had wasn't like that.

Mine typically starts after 2-3 revolutions on cold start. If its really cold out, it takes a couple more. If yours is consistently taking more, then I'd check the valve clearance. Go ahead and look at your plugs while you are right there.

Thanks. Valve clearance will be checked soon at the service. Plugs will be replaced also. By the way, are you suppose to check electrode gap on new iridium plug. Im always afraid to damage the fine tip of the electrode...

Typically the battery struggle in cold and not being used for a while.
Battery needs to be kept charged if not used for a few weeks.
Modern electronic problem as with many brands…

With the proper tool, you won't hurt the tip.
