V100 saddlebags note and warning!

I understand the pain. I went for the OEMs and have had them mostly mounted for 28,000 miles. I did 20K miles last summer and used them as intended. I'm extra careful when mounting them, making sure I have space for the pillion spikes that hold them in place. (you can see a line where they contact each other.) I'm also careful when transporting them off the bike. My thought is that section that sticks out where the pillion spikes go, might be easy to damage. Don't overload them. I pack fairly light and closing the bags continues to be fairly easy. I'm also not a hard rider. Just usually flow with traffic.

I took a haircut on the pair I bought . . . really low quality and I hated the clamshell access coming from top-access hard bags. Miserable to try to mount. Given away to a guzzizta for the cost of shipping only. Soon to have H&B luggage. MG got bags right with the Cali 1400 touring, imo.

Jean, saddly there has a few discussions about the Motto Guzzi side bags falling off. I lost my V85TT right bag and a few people have spoken about the V100 Mondella and now as well as the Stelvio V100 having similar issues. I might not have seen of all of the threads but it is interesting that it seems like a few has been on the right side. Not sure what that means but is interesting.
Can only hope that Motto Guzzi hear about this and that they get it sorted.

So far, knock on wood, no problems with mine and I've yet to try these mods. I will say they are tougher to get off compared to others, but I've done rough secondary roads and old cobblestone roads at speed and they passed the vibration test for sure. In my experience Harley and Honda make better bags, and go figure - the only hard bag I ever had fall off (and I still don't know why) was on my BMW. But these MG bags are excellent IMO.
As a bonus they are very attractive looking and don't ruin the lines of an otherwise beautiful bike. Plus, no ugly mounting bars are needed, and they're well sized.
