Recently purchased this bike as a non-runner. But the previous owner claimed that it had run properly before on these larger non-standard carbs.
They are jetted: main 165; Starter 65 and idle Jet 60.
I misfires and spits back quite badly and I cannot get it to run properly.
Carbs have been cleaned, Ignition re-timed and new condensers fitted.
Th carbs are monted on rubber fittings from an early LeMans, but it looks like they reduce to the standard T3 type of curved inlet manifolds.
Whats the next step? Does anyone have experience of 36mm carbs on the standard manifolds?

What is filtering the air? Even if using filter pods, the jetting seems a bit on the rich side to me. Also it would help to know the atomizer and needle sizes.

I have an 80 G5 with 32 PHF's. It took a while to get it civilized.
One of the whackiest probs was related to intake airleaks. On my set up they caused misfires and back fires.
I am at 135 mains and 50 idles.
I get about 10K miles before the pistons load up so much that they need cleaning! Dunno is that's wrong jets or bad rings.
The 32's are using standard VHF (old square slide) manifolds. I hadda make carb/intake bushings out of Delrin.
I tried 36's on the bike but didn't have much luck. Wound up with the 32's.
Can you get it to idle?

`Alex
