V7 850 E5 seized clutch

Hi All

Has anyone else experienced a seized clutch on a newish V7?

Problem:
Clutch fork will not move to allow clutch to be engaged. Pulling on the clutch lever is very stiff and only serves to flex the fork. Lever and cable are fine, freely moving and correctly attached.

Context:
The bike is quite new (4600 miles) and was last serviced in February by the dealer. The bike is clean and pivot points linkages are lubricated. The bike was last used 2 weeks ago without any issue at all, driven home and parked up. I came to try and ride it today and the engine starts fine, no unusual noises, smoke or smells but the clutch will not budge.

It’s still under warranty so I can have it transported to the dealer but before going through the hassle, is there anything obvious that I’m missing?

Your help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

My guess would have been corrosion at the pivot locking the arm. Since you said it is lubricated and just used 2 weeks ago take it to the dealer.

Something has happened internally to the clutch assembly someplace. There are several possible points of failure on the pushrod and throwout bearing assembly or it could be something with the pressure plate assembly.

I’m sorry but anybody’s guess is as good as another until it is opened up and inspected. 🤷‍♂️

This is a warranty tear down and replacement situation.

Mechanical things are just that, mechanical things, and unfortunately you have suffered an internal failure of some sort. It’s a fluke.

There is nothing anybody can do here. The clutch must come out for a complete inspection and replacement of the damaged components.

Please come back after it is repaired and post what the findings and repairs were. That would be very appreciated.

This is a major surgery but very routine and should be very straightforward for your dealer. Moto Guzzi will get you right as rain on this.

No worries. 👍
