All sorted, although that didn't end up being the problem. I'm glad I replaced the filter, as the old one was looking pretty bloated.
The actual problem was a worn spring in my kill switch.
Back on the road, anyhow.
I'm in the process of psyching myself up to change the filter on my 2017 Roamer.
I've read this and have a question.
Are the internal hoses of concern and need replacing.
The job itself doesn't over concern providing I follow the guidance, but I don't want to go back in if I can avoid it.

Done the V9 all good
Wiggle and twist to get it in or out and just as you decide to look at Todd's vid again it will suddenly go
Fuel connector pliers help but not essential. I used the red ones from the cheap and nasty set of 3 you can get from Fleabay
KL145 (and UFI equivalent) are about 5mm bigger than diameter than original where the tie wrap holds it in place so you can't reuse the old one.
All told, maybe 90 minutes as a first time, just keep everything clean and tidy
Thanks for the vid Todd, pointed me the right way
My 2013 V7 Special has just under 2,400 miles on it. I acquired it a few months ago and have been doing the needed maintenance because I am not sure what service it had previously. Today was fuel filter day, I figured that it had the original filter but was not certain it was the problematic plastic unit. Well it had the plastic filter and it was deformed and ready to fail. I installed the replacement so it will be good to go for a while. The whole process took just over an hour, that included cleaning the frame area under the tank and removing the factory warning stickers from the tank.
I did my Roamer without too much drama but I've lost count of the times when working on various vehicles I've thought whoever designed this should be made to work on the bloody thing.
I replaced mine with the Guzzitech metal filter. It DOES come out but it's a bit of a Rubik's cube with the correct combo of twist and angle. It took me a few tries. Putting it back was just the reverse.
