V7 Classic vs. deer

Just curious, how did the deer fare in the crash?
Good luck and get well soon, Ed

The deer was eviscerated, it was a doe, I'd guess about 100 pounds. Messy!

Gad Mike, sorry to hear about the accident. Get well soon, fix the bike and if Arizona has a Guzzi rally in 2012, you're welcome to hang at my place on your way to and/from the rally.

P.S., I can't seem to get my signature fixed, I'm in Arizona, not Oklahoma.

Hey Carl, bike will be fixed soon! Thanks for the invite, Payson is a good stop on the way to Prescott. Speaking of road critters, you know when you ride out of Payson to the East, there is a side road just out of town called Lion Springs Rd.
Anyway, I just about hit a mountain lion there with my car. I was surprised it was that close to town.
Cheers!

I've got a real neat road waiting for you. You'd never expect to find it where it is. Wheeeeee!!!!!!

Thanks for the responses, a big shout out to Joe! The insurance estimate came back Friday for $5500. I don't know if my insurance will total it or not. I am getting the bike back either way, it will be a good opportunity to build it back nicer than it was. I figure I will knock the dents out of the fuel tank and then paint it with a retro look. Maybe a Stucchi fairing.....hmm. All kinds of possibilities. I'll post pics on here of the rebuild.
Cheers!

Sorry to hear about your deer encounter. Bloody dangerous those animals. From the looks of the picture, it looks to me like the insurance company is low balling you. Do you think its a appropriate estimate?

Hmm, I don't know. The repair estimate came from a Guzzi dealer. I figure parts needed will be the Agostini exhaust, alloy tank, two fenders, turn signals etc.., and an instrument cluster. I figure these parts will be about $3500 my cost. Then shop labor for the rest. You know, the bike has a resale value of about $7000 for a stock one. I thought the estimate was pretty close really. The nice thing is I can get it up and running again pretty cheap, as I kept the stock tank, stock exhaust, headlamp etc....As it is I think I will come out ok on it. Just waiting to hear from the adjuster.
Cheers!

Mike-
Hope the adjuster gives you a square deal on the bike. I will definitely give you a call so we can get together after the Thanksgiving holidays. You mentioned the difference the Agostini exhaust made, and I want to talk to you about that, as I have been looking at aftermarket exhaust systems for the V7C, Mistral, Bubs, BSA Peashooters, etc., also did you have to do any MAP changes etc.

Good Luck with the Adjuster

Dave

Hey Dave, when I get it back together you can ride it with the Agostinis. It's a whole different bike.
Cheers!

Hey Mike, let me know if you want to sell the damaged instrument panel. Thanks.

You can have it. Are you still working on the electronic cruise control?

It's set aside for the time being. Same with the FLIR night vision set. Too busy writing and singing at the local pub.

Cool! The only pub I've been in around Payson is that topless bar in Star Valley on the south side of Hwy 260. LOL
