Greetings everyone. I am new to posting and hopefully someone can take time to tell me the error of my ways.

I own a 2016 v7 ii which I just removed the evap canister on and changed the fuel filter to the all metal one that I bought from this site. Bike turned over just fine once everything was back together. While the bike was on the stands I decided to adjust valve clearances. That done and went to fire up the bike. Now orange fuel light comes on and won’t turn over. Removed fuel tank again and pulled out fuel assembly. Everything looks intact. I’m at a loss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Craig,

Simple things first. I don't see the neutral light on. It must be in neutral, bar switch in the run position and even clutch in if needed to test. From there, check your pump connection and the fuses. Is your pump coming on when you key on?

Sorry about my post…feel like an idiot. I had the thing in gear from my valve clearance adjustment.

Do have a question about that though. There is a video from GTM on YouTube where they adjust valves on a V7 iii. I’ve followed that to a T. In the video he mentions putting the bike into 3rd gear for the adjustments. Why is it 3rd?

Thanks again.

I have not watched the video, but putting the transmission in a higher gear makes it easier to turn the engine by hand with the rear wheel. I always use 6th gear with my RS and will probably do the same when it comes time to do my own valve adjustments on the V85TT. I am glad you solved the "no start" condition!

On my VIII, I was not able to turn the wheel, 4th worked.
