My bike (2016 V7II Stone) was sitting on a trickle charge for about a year without being used. Came back and it started up great but after riding for a few days it the battery died when I tried to start it.

I replaced a new battery in it and after 3 hours of riding its dead again. Need to be on the throttle constantly in order to idle and not die. Also while riding now the speedo drops and does not give any readings. Bike sounds fine but electronics are struggling! Ive been told it might be the stater?

1. Is replacing the stater a good first option for troubleshooting or are there other components that I should consider looking into/testing?

2. The only modifications I have are aftermarket front end turn signals. They are LED so I have installed the load resistors on them as well. Would that possibly be causing the stater to fail? Im no master electrician but am happy to switch back to the OEM signals if that may be causing issues.

Thank you in advance, and any tips to point me in the right direction are greatly appreciated!

If you have a digital multimeter you could start with a stator test for continuity and voltage output. If that multimeter has a diode function you could also bias-test the rectifier for potential problems. That might narrow it down.

Why? Tender is not a full time option. Not for a year. One day per month. You see the results. The rest is covered, check system w/multi meter. Todd has the stuff to fix it. Next time take battery out or unhook it.

Great, thanks I'll start there.
