All,
Here on the Gulf Coast of TX we have had what passes for winter arrive. That means daytime temps in the low thirties to forties, and pretty wet. I dug out my Aerostich leathers, heavy boots, glove liners and such to stay warm. Some winter season observations on the new engine and bike compared to my 2012 V7R follow:
-- new engine sparks right up, no sluggish start, lengthy warm up or fiddling with idle, the fueling is just perfect; an enormous improvement (and yes I kept the V7R in tune)
-- no issues rain riding, the bike takes it in stride, no evidence of electrical sensitivity or other issues, and a relatively easy clean up afterwards-- if you don't ride in the rain in this climate, you don't ride...
-- traction control works, so does ABS: smooth and predictable, nice sticky tires, brake discs dry quickly.
My old Racer was a pain in temperatures below about 40F. Bottom line: the new Special III takes it all in stride. The bike is just a gem. 2018 goal: some longer rides and new cans for sound feedback.
Ride on.
