Hello all,

In short, i just checked the oil in my V7 iii.
The good: Oil is beautiful, clear, and full
The bad: I noticed a "flat" edged o-ring on the workmat and don't know if it's from the dipstick. I suspect it is as it's almost a perfect fit.

In addition, there's a standard round o-ring on the dipstick head/cap (incidentally snapped when tightening)

So, my questions:
1. Are there in fact 2 seals for the disptick?
2. If so, how important is the flat one?
2.1. How do i close the dipstick without the flatty sticking out the side?
3. How urgently do I need to replace the snapped o-ring (it's in place now).

Thank you!

Mike

Looking at a parts manual, there is just the one o-ring. You do need just the o-ring and not the flat one. It will leak without that o-ring. Do you have the tightening tool from the store tab?

Thank you. Much appreciated.

I do not have the tightening tool but used a pair of locking pliers to twist it closed.

I've waited 3 years to say this but on my 2015 V7 and the V7III I tighten the oil plug with my old arthritic fingers and that's not very tight. when I check it 1000 miles later I need the tool to break it loose because it seems to tighten. how do people have them loosen.
On a brighter note the oil check on a V85 is through a sight glass. they finally caught up with the 19th century.
