Just got it firing!
Thanks to you Steve and Vagrant as well. I adjusted the clutch just a little tighter and the handle bar end. It had about 1/4 play and adjusted it down to 1/8 to see if it would make any difference and WOW. No more issue in finding neutral. Sometimes the simple obvious things do work. I had not even thought of trying that since the problem persisted even after the 600 mile initial service. Probably should have been caught there, but was not.As vagrant implied, the clutch adjustment can effect shifting, including finding neutral. And I use two fingers on the clutch, which makes it even worse. To solve it on my Racer, I reduced the freeplay (need to keep some, though)and bought some new levers that have slightly more stroke (traded levererage for travel, so it also requires a little more pull). Solved the problem for me, and now the trans is like butter.
