V7 Special Charging System Problem

I just wanna know what was wrong with it?
I do not know in detail which component in the charging system actually failed, but was told that the complete set-up (stator, R/R) will be replaced, and I am happy with that.:)

That may be , I haven't looked into any parts books , just was assuming (not the brightest idea) that they had stuck with the same . Don't remember seeing that kind of update in any of the reviews I've read ( only a couple actually) .

Problem fixed after flywheel, stator, R/R replacement. About 14.5 V when riding in the 3-5K RPM range, 13.4 at idle, all within specs given in the service manual. No signs of damage on the stator and it was never determined what the actual problem was. But I don't really care, just happy that it was fixed.

Have you gone through all the usual checks , cleaned battery terminals , scraped and cleaned grounds , checked the pins on the connectors and of course load tested the battery ? Decades ago I'd found a couple of British bikes with soft output , made up a simple device to check the strength of each magnet and in both cases they each had one weak magnet , new rotor and problem fixed . Not too sure if that happens anymore and think it might be a challenge to test the rotor magnets on your V-11 . I have an '02 Jackal motor in my custom and used an H_D reg/rec and it charges okay , but I've never seen my voltmeter make it to 14V , never any starting problems and I use a points ignition .

Yes, I did check the terminals, the connections to ground and load-tested the battery (Yuasa). No issues there, after all, this was a brand new motorcycle with 0 miles. The problems started on day one, so I must assume that the V7 got delivered to the dealer already defective. The malfunction was confirmed by the dealer during the 900 mi service and it was decided, I guess by Piaggio North America, to replace rotor, stator and R/R without further and detailed testing. Now everything is working fine. :)
