• Ciao Guest, The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com lost his home completely on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. You can find more info on a post named L.A. Wildfires in the USA section. Our heart and best go out to everyone in this horrific disaster.

Last Saturday I took a 300 plus mile ride over the Sierra Mountains and back with some friends. About two hours into the ride I lost my shifter. The bolt broke. I had a nice tool set with me that included some wire. We were able to catch a couple threads with the broken bolt and hold it into place with the wire and zip ties. I rarely and gently shifted all the way for the rest of the trip.

The fellow I purchased the V9 Roamer from had put on foot pegs that are positioned further back than stock. I found the stock assembly and tried to used parts of it to fix my bike but the bolt and nuts are different enough that I couldn’t thread it on. The more rear position foot peg assembly appears to be on several other V9’s I’ve seen pictures of.

Is it hard to find the part or will I have to buy a whole new assembly?

You should be able to find a replacement bolt.

If you can ask the guy you bought it from, who the maker of the rear-set is, all the easier.

It does appear the shorter rod and rose joints are a different thread from the original. I can't tell from your write up if you tried to change the rose joint at the front, or just thread a new nut onto that rose joint. If you just need a nut, take the the shaft with that rose joint to a good hardware store and get the nut you need. When you install use blue loctite to secure the nut.

Both peg assys are OEM. The ones you have on the bikes are the OE repositioned versions (both shown HERE - It's REALLY important to search and read on this site before starting a new thread please) vs stock (you are holding of course). You can 100% use the linkage/rose joints from the old one. One is standard thread, one is reversed. Your broken one looks left hand threaded. You just have to match them up. When they break again, we offer those below, or you too can ignore me like most everyone else here. I'm about to quit offering any free advice very soon.

I looked at the thread you posted from 2019 and found it interesting that the Roamer wasn’t sent to the USA as it was elsewhere. My Roamer is 2017 model year is white, and I’ve seen pictures of an orange colored in America also. It is my understanding that the red V9 Roamer was not sent here but was available overseas.

I knew that both foot peg assemblies were OEM. But I want to thank you for responding to this thread with the information I needed. I knew this was the place to get knowledgeable accurate information! I will immediately order from you a standard/reverse pair plus a left reverse thread joint so I can replace the broken piece and so I can carry a right and left threaded joint in my tool kit just in case of a future failure.

Just what I needed. Thanks again!

Seems like this would be a relevant thread to comment on. I have a 2022 V7 850 Special Edition with just under 3k miles. My shift linkage joint snapped while riding last weekend. After getting towed home, did some research and found GTMs linkage ball joints.

Within 1 WEEK, I had a new set of joints installed and my bike is once again running great.

I have also learned that during the week I ordered my joints the owner of GTM (and this site) lost his home to the LA fires. I have friends and family who were also impacted and yet somehow GTM was able to answer questions and fulfill my order incredibly fast and with excellent service. Here are pics of my repair and heads up to other owners about this issue and that these joints are a superior upgrade.

Also, as a new member to this forum, I am grateful to be part of the community and to GTM for their commitment all of us Moto Guzzi owners.
