I was at the dealer's today and decided to pick up an oil filter for my V7III Racer stock inventory. I always like to have at least one oil filter in stock.

Anyway, the part number listed in the dealer's parts book was 2A.00.06.33.

The type code on the top of the oil filter itself is UF12553101.

The interesting thing is that there's another filter which is almost identical, part number 27.15.30.85, which for all intents and purposes looks and measures to be identical. The type code on this one differs by two digits ... the last "01" is missing: UF125531.

The parts man said that sometimes they do a first service and a filter with "the other" type code comes out of a from-the-factory bike.

So what exactly is the difference between the two filters?

The difference is the manufacturer part number versus Moto Guzzi part number. UFI makes the filters and sells to MG, who then boxes it with their number.

Oh yeah, missed that, I have 2 on the shelf and both are marked 2533101 like yours. The UFI on line catalogue is no help.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this. I have previously ordered filters online and got the 27.15.30.85, but in my last order I got a 2A.00.06.33. They look the same, but now I’m worried I have received the wrong one. Any advice appreciated.
