There was some chat going on concerning winter riding.
There's a company called Anlas that makes winter tires in many sizes. Most companies only make little tires for mopeds etc.
They have a website in the UK. I've looked for them here in Canada and they are very hard to find. I just thought I'd put this out there. I've been tempted to try them just to see the reaction of the Quebec Provincial Police. Snow tires are mandatory in Quebec which basically makes it illegal to ride a motorcycle between December 1st and March 15th. I would imagine I would get pulled over every time they saw me.
 
Snow tires are required in any area outside the lower Mainland here in BC, but that only applies to cars and you are allowed to ride BUT may be pulled over and inspected by the police and turned around if they deem it unsafe.

On another site :wasntme: I often see photos of riders up in the Mountains, and Highlands where there is snow on the shoulders of the road..
In the Spring around here ( Gatineau Hills ) there is often still snow just off the road in the ditches and on the North facing slopes on those first riding weeks ( for me ).
I learned to be very wary of those gray and white salt deposits left behind from winter !!!!
