Worthless V100 tire thread

It has been rumored that the Angel GT II has been discontinued.
I had GT IIs on my previous bikes, bakc then they were made in Germany (Metzeler factory), I had them on my former V100 S and tbh, they were totally different tyres than I knew. Much less grip, very bad wearing chracteristics, the front had plenty of tread left but the shape was like a sharp roof. And of yourse, those GT IIs on V100 are made in China.

I put a set of Michelin Road 6 on my bike before my recent trip. I like how they handle - in the dry and they were also quite good in the rain. After 2100 miles, they seem to be wearing quite well. Time will tell...

They are generally the most expensive here in Sweden.
The OEM Pirelli Angel GT II has been quite OK by all means.
I certainly can’t fault them.
They wear OK too, I have around 5000 miles on them.
Both front and rear wear noticeably, especially the rear wears flat by time for me, but I reckon the rear will last at least 2000 miles more.
But I’m happy to try the Michelin R6 if the price doesn’t differ much.

Road 6 tires can be expensive here in the US as well, but I got a pretty good deal and Michelin was offering a $60 rebate if you bought a set of tires. I had planned to get a set of Conti Road Attacks, but they were ~15% more than the Road 6 even before the $60 rebate. I've got Dunlop Mutants on my 690 Duke which I really like...I'm tempted to try them on the V100 sometime...:-)

I used PR4s exclusively on my '09 Stelvio. Will have to try PR6s when it's time to change my new Roadsmart 4s; I've been a Dunlop Q3 & Q4 person since having totalled the Stelvio in 2016... Miss that one -- great bike! Still having fun on the Mandello S (with its new engine)!

Put a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III on the front: telepathic turn in! Really great tire for me, turns in so easy, stable trail braking, can still turn in on the brakes. Sticks like glue. Haven't taken it to Florida Lime level yet, this setup on the front is definitely trackday capable. Sooo much better for the sport part of sport touring than the P Angel that came with the bike.

Don't care how long it lasts, its just a great tire for hauling into turns on paved logging road out here, love it!

Keep the P angels. I just changed my tires last week. These is a pic of the reat tire at over 13,000 miles. The first set of P angels on my first mandello was replaced at 12,000 mls, so not a fluke. I had never before had a tire last more than 9,000 miles.
I know I am old now and don't abuse the tires. I ride 95% mountain roads.
I do not know your roads (I sense you are on the lower half of your country), but your P angels will probably go for much longer.

Thanks for the report.
The P Angels II seem to be OK regarding wet grip, as well as lasting long too.
A buddy with a Yamaha Tracer and Michelin R6 admitted earlier that he wasn’t fully satisfied with their wet grip, asking me how I felt about the P Angels.
So M R6 isn’t a better choice in total, even if the longevity might be slightly better.
I’ll stay with the P Angels for the first tyre change next year.

Have just had a pair of Dunlop Mutant's fitted. Had a quick ride out today to scrub them in and loving them so far. Lovely, neutral steering and seem pretty quiet compared to some.
My OEM Angels had squared off really badly from motorway commuting so it's nice to roll around corners rather than falling over the edge into them!
