Well, it's not really all that traumatic, and she didn't die on me, but she is in fact all in pieces in the shop.
I took her in for a first service right at 1000 miles. The tech found that when the gas cap was open and the power on, a tiny jet of fuel was spewing up and out. He had to pull the bodywork, tank, and fuel pump but finally found a crack in the pump itself. (I don't yet know if it was the body or the output flange or what, but I will find out.)
So now she is all in pieces at the shop awaiting parts: pump, top body panel (paint bubbled around the fuel filler neck), valve cover gaskets (they didn't seem to think they might need to keep those in stock... ), and one of the tiny Guzzi emblems on the valve cover (disappeared during the second ride).
No problems with the rockers though
