V7-850 Evap and Tip Info

Great write up. Any concerns with the tank venting into the canister that now has no exit? Or is it fine if vapors and possibly raw fuel end up in the canister indefinitely? Or am I missing something?

I like the "stock" appearance you've tried to maintain, mostly because it seems like it prevents vapors escaping but still works per the mod. The reason for my concern is my bike is kept in a garage with a gas water heater. I would prefer the tank to not freely vent into the atmosphere.
I"m thinking the same thing. The evap system has a purpose. If the Bosch purge valve is prevented from functioning by blocking it off mechanically, or otherwise, then presumably fuel vapor is going to saturate the charcoal canister eventually. Then pressure is going to build up in the tank. Where will this pressure go? Will it force liquid gas through the fuel pump? Will it go out the gas cap under enough pressure? I don't know.

I've read through 2 pages of this thread so far. Not at all sure what problem this evap delete is supposed to address. It sounds like the valve between the tank and the canister, being referred to as the check valve, is a valve that lets vapor flow from the tank to the canister but prevents it from flowing from the canister to the tank. I really don't understand what this valve is for. Why are people drilling through it which effectively eliminates it from the system.

I guess it would help if I understood exactly how the system should work and why people are deleting it.

Edit: Sounds like the "check" valve is a "tip over" valve. That makes sense. Wouldn't want liquid fuel filling up the canister in the event of a tip over.

Well, I took a close look at the evap system yesterday. If you remove the 10mm bolt that holds the tank on you can lift up a little and pull back while wiggling a bit and the tank will come off. I didn't completely remove it but It looks like it would be easy enough. There is 1 electrical connector for the fuel level sensor that is easy to access. The fuel supply line looks like there is a quick connect fitting that you probably just squeeze and push up to remove. The vent line would need to be disconnected down on the vent/tip over valve.

Anyway, my system looks perfect. As to the mysterious "humming" I am guessing that it might be the tip over valve buzzing a little as vapors are forced through it. (Bike stopped with cool tank sitting over a hot motor.)

Read through the third page of this thread. Seems like people are experiencing performance issues. People claim that doing this evap delete solves those issues. Have yet to read an explanation of why or what the problem is.

If you do this as the op describes the canister is never going to be evacuated. Is that a problem? I don't know. Why gut the tip over valve? I don't know. The tank would remain sealed except when the motor is running so no fumes in storage space. That's good. But where will the vapors go when the bike warms up in storage? I don't know. Will the tank get a lot of pressure in there? I don't know. Is there something I'm missing here?
