2024 V85TT Updates - 3 variants offered

Any updates on how Guzzi have implemented VVT on the latest V85? The valve covers look the same on photos of the latest bikes.

Any changes would be within the block itself and most likely behind the timing cover

I'm interested in the new Strada version with 17 inch wheels. This V85 was presumably designed originally for a 19 inch front wheel, so can they just plonk a 17 in the front or are any other changes to geometry required?

Who knows. They don't even have a V85 brochure on their website.
But, Yes, they would just need to re-calibrate the ABS. My front has the forks raised 1" (about the equivalent of a 17" front) and I think it handles better than stock.

Guzzi wouldn’t “plonk” anything. They have complex and expensive hoops for any changes like that. All manufacturers do.

I’ve been changing wheel sizes and raising forks on Guzzis for 24+ years, all for the better. But what do I know, I’m just the ignored owner of this site who has been riding, racing and building frame up bikes nearly my entire life… And constantly pissed on by Guzzi themselves, and lately, far too many here.

Thanks for the reply, Todd. I wonder how I got it in my head that the Strada had 17 inch wheels. Must be getting old. I'm happy to withdraw the word plonk. I was using it for emphasis to contrast the simple action of just fitting a different size front wheel, with whatever other actions might be involved that I was interested in learning about, such as adjusting the fork height or whatever. Maybe it would be best to delete my original post.

Some OEMs will fit smaller wheels on the same model. Guzzi doesn’t seem to be one of them. Again, complex legalities for them to do so.
I’ve put smaller wheels on too many to remember now. My Jackal was first after raising the forks within days of buying it in 1999. My old and new Stelvios have worn a custom laced 18” front since 2010, and I last put 17” wheels on a NTX as well, as have a few others.
It can be done, just not easily, and the newer bikes add complexity with electronics for the consumer.

Not sure how I was too stupid to find that. I kept finding the v7 and v9. Anyway both 19" fronts.
Whe I get there you can go take mine for a good ride and see if you like it set up that way. It only takes 1/2 hour and three fingers of hootch to do.

I test rode 2022 V85 TT yesterday when my V7 was under first service. I liked it a lot, but throttle response was very inaccurate. It was almost impossible to maintain steady speed at lower gears. Over 60 km/h, with higher gears it was a bit easier. Has any V85 TT <2023 owners tested the 2024 model? Is the throttle response as awful as older models or has Moto Guzzi succeeded to improve it?

My v85 was a bucking bronco at 2-3% throttle. even if cruise was on 4thgear @60kph. . used to ride trials so understand throttle control, just couldn't get it 'right' felt like I was riding over constant potholes. bigger throttle opening sort of Ok, but speed limits apply here instantaneous fuel would jump 3l/100 -> 9l/100 then back again. worse if head/side winds. Once map update was done by dealer when they fixed the heads problem, sweet as now. smooth throttle from 1% - lots.

No, it was in road mode and I even tried the rain mode, but it was as bad on rain mode. I´ve asked dealer about the ECU update. The demo bike I rode had 1700 km on clock, so first service should have been done, but you never know...

From the little I was told I figured there are a couple of map updates. I now have latest one afaik. works great as said. sport/road/rain made no difference in my case before new map. rain is a 'slow'/tame ignition/fuel mode, sport is a quicker slightly map. maps also effect TC. in custom can setup for off road ie abs stuff. I don't use any of them I use the thing on rh side of handlebar. crank it open & V85 will scare you. drop a gear & crank throttle & will be fun enough. personally I wish bike manufacturers would remove the TV/DVD players & just put VM carbs on so easy to clean bull dust out/tweak main jet, lift raise needle simple basic tuning. Why did bikes become so complicated? who NEEDs 150-200hp. I can't afford tyre replacements. KISS suits me. but thats just me. you do you.

I had called Moto Guzzi/Aprilia USA and spoke w/ a guy last month. He said that they should start receiving them at their USA warehouse in June and then the dealers should start receiving them by late July/August. I have a deposit down on a V85TT w/ AF1.
BTW, the MG guy that I spoke w/ said that they would be called a 2025 year model d/t the late arrival date.

G'day Dave, Assuming ZGUK....153 was a previous V85..?? ... I'm interested to know, firstly the reasons you"upgraded" and secondly, once you've put some k's / ml's on ZGUM....14, whether you notice significant difference between models in fuel consumption and performance given the variable valve timing of the newer model. Which year model was your old one & how many kms had it done?
I've been considering trading up myself but keen to hear from those who have done so recently rather than just from "magazine tests" before committing. Cheers, Fraser

Engine response is smother, and more powerful. I'm running in Rain mode, much more get up and go than the old bike. Interesting that both bikes are rated the same horse power, but the new one feels stronger. I have not experienced the higher RPMs where the variable timing comes into play, just getting to enough miles to explore that variable timing.
Mileage, averaged 57.4, Sunday trip over San Marcos Pass, Santa Ynez to Santa Barbara, 34.5 miles.
Build quality has improved. Thread locker used more often, ie skid plate bolts, red thread locker. Wiring seems more organized.
Both bikes are TTs
