Perhaps I missed it in the six pages of this thread, but was there a moral to the 'brake chatter/judder' story? :? I ask only because I have experienced that issue infrequently (not enough to lose sleep over it).

I realise this is a long lost post but I have a Breva 1200 2V and had identical issues. The screech when I let my clutch out from a cold start is minor and goes away when warm so I just learned to live with it.
I had major (and I mean major to the point of being dangerous) brake shudder when coming to a stop. It eventually got so bad that I had to stop riding some steep downhill minor roads where I live as it was starting to shudder through downhill hairpins).
I posted here and all over the place and had lots of advice but it was a 17 y.o. apprentice bike mechanic who solved the issue. It wasn't warped discs, glazed discs, tight bobbins or any of the other possibilities it was glazed brake pads. I watched as he removed them, cleaned them and roughed up the surface (on some not so smooth concrete) and absolutely no probs anymore. It came back in a minor way after 5000 km or so so I did the roughing up routine myself (10 mins max) and perfect braking again. Worth noting that it shuddered on the OEM pads, and on a set of pricey aftermarket Kevlar pads too. Must just be a coincidental harmonic occuring with certain Brembo discs.
Many well meaning people were convinced I had warped discs but there was no pulsing at the lever, just savage juddering, you could see the whole disc brake assembly and lower forks shaking away when it was at its worst.
Good luck, I was nearly ready to bail out and get another bike !

Thanks, very helpful. Wonder if this is just an issue with the wave rotors enhancing somehow pad glazing? Curiously, my shudder episodes are very infrequent, so I guess I'm reducing the glazing effect by not having to brake hard and long (Florida has no topographical relief to speak of -- a brake journeyman's worst place to set up shop!).magoo said:
