I pulled apart my side stand last night just to get an idea of what was going on. The stand is mounted to the frame via a part known as "plate" P/N GU32432711. A bolt goes through a bushing, into the plate, then through the ears of the stand itself, into another bracket and secured with a nut.
On my bike, this part "plate" is totally wallered out. At least 3mm larger than the bushing on all sides. It's a special order part from AF1 but, I think I should get one on order ASAP because I rely on my side stand any time I stop and am not at my home garage. At home, I have a pit-bull stand that holds the bike upright. But, that is very recent and this bike has already spent six years leaning on its side stand at all times not being ridden.
For such an important little part that keeps the bike from falling 99% of its life, it sure gets a lot of neglect.
