So there is nothing wrong at the moment. Basically, you just want to go looking inside of the ECU then.

Although I don't own a V7/V85/V9 platform motorcycle, I thought there was a thread here about utilizing a easily purchased OBDII pug and adapter. Did you see anything like this?

Yes, nothing wrong at the moment, that I know of.

I've heard about a Fiat-to-OBDII port adapter, but thought it had something to do with Diag.

I'll search to see if an OBDII tool will read codes/faults on my 15RC.

Scott, Jason has purchased my flash tool. Frustrating that it does not allow simple diagnostics on the 15RC.
I won't get into Diag as stated exhaustively here Jason. Please do not mention it by name as Google will send people here to ask more about it.
