Good! I hope it puts team xtreme out of business!!! Or at least new management..I can tell you that the folks at Guzzi/Piaggio read these forums, so do some dealers.
It is unlikely that the seal is just bad. What I see ALL OF THE TIME in my shop, is the rear main seals being blown out of European motorcycles, because too much oil has been added to the crankcase. People chase the top of the fill line which is a terrible thing to do (anywhere between low and max is FINE) and when they overfill it, the pressure in the crankcase rises exponentially (liquids don't compress) and this air pressure will seek the easiest way out, which is right past the rear main seal. Once oil gets between the seal and the housing, it's going to leak forever.
It's amazing how many new bikes I have seen where the service departments overfill the engine oil because the kids they have working in the service department, assembling motorcycles, don't know a damn thing.
I am sorry that the OP is going through this on his brand new motorcycle. Just terrible.
Ya! Last email I got yesterday from service manager at AF1 said the warranty claims for the rear main seal and US speedo were both approved by Piaggio. He said mid July for pickup was accurate as parts are coming from Italy. The speedo on my bike was kph only which is not DOT legal as our signs in Texas are mph only. The only problem was that part was backlogged til August so I'll probably get the bike in a couple weeks then being it back for the speedo which takes only 1 to 2 hours to install. I did sit on a couple ducati scramblers yesterday as I'm on vacation and they felt really soft and springy. I didn't care for the lcd only gauges either. I started talking to the salesman and he literally said MG's just have a cool factor out of this world. I thought that was pretty funny despite the time I was having with mine! Can't wait to get it back! Will keep yall updated.
