How To Recover The 5 Digit Security Code

Well, I did not have the old USER code so I read the user/maintenance book and posts 10,16 and 54. Inserted first key, turned on, applied service code 34534 for Cal 14, went to recovery, it read 1st key and requested 2nd, turned off and immediately inserted 2nd key to on, it asked for NEW code that I supplied, turned key off, and presto, I now have a new easy to remember USER code imbedded in the dash and written in the maintenance and warranty booklets and on the bike itself. Hope this helps and CHEERS to all.

I read the notes and your write up and programmed my OEM key set with a new code this morning. The bike started up with both keys. The real test comes today when I take off for a ride. SH to me:) I will order two more keys to be on the safe side. Of course I plastered the new code everywhere. Luckily my bike came with the 2 OEM keys after 10 years. The bike came with the maint wrench highlighted after 10 yrs so no one delved into the issue. I had to do the starter tech recall myself. Fortunately the bike only had 2000 miles after 10 yrs. It was sort of a show piece - one of several bikes in a climate controlled warehouse in MA. Now I have over 12000 miles after 18 months.👍

I had to do the starter tech recall myself should read "I had to do the alternator tech recall myself". Sounded odd after I posted....
