Small block Registry & Picture thread

Just picked this up in Canada. Now trying to register the 1982 V50 Monza. Here we go.

Anyone understand the VIN number schema. The VIN is not on the frame. The frame serial number is PE100024. From what I learned on forums the VIN is as follows:

ZGU PE _ _ _ _ C M 100024

The first three _ _ _ is the Version Variant and may consist of letters or numerals. Found three 1981 V50 Monza with designations of APE. Does anyone have insight on 1982 and what the variant types are.

The fourth digit is a FREE DIGIT (value from 0 to 9). From the 1981 three VINs I found, they were 2, 5 or 7. How does MG designate this free digit.

Would like to get it on the road for a few months before it gets -40C before my fifth Canadian Winter.

Some mornings do not go was planned and you have to check and adjust. 2017 Griso

Got through the layers of frame paint to get to the serial number to match the paperwork. Legit now.

Let me know otherwise, if the back in 1982, Moto Guzzi imprinted the 17 digit VIN on the frame. Moving forward on a safety inspection. Purchased a new battery today.

This bike has been out of commission for almost 4 years now. The changes made to it include steel luggage rack, American style grease zerks on the speedometer sending unit, and redesigned starting circuit that eliminates the handle bar starting button and the starter relay. The starting button on the handlebar would be pressed by the tank bag on occasion and engage the starter with the engine running!

New to me V65 Sessantacinque GT from 1992, somewhat modified. I bought it sight unseen, was about 400Km from home so a little road trip this weekend to fetch it.

Hadn't realised it was going to be quite so...loud. I was most of the way towards purchasing a new Kawasaki Eliminator (which has near identical on-paper specifications to the V65) but the dealer didn't want to give me a delivery date and was so generally uninterested in my custom that I figured I might as well buy something funky. When I was younger I owned a lot of Alfa Romeos and this reminds me so much of those.

Trip up and back was largely uneventful, I was somewhat concerned about tying it down so installed some mounting hardware in the bed of my ute first and that worked very well with some motorcycle specific tie downs The one of the back was superfluous.

Looking forward to riding it, have to go and do the learners course first to upgrade my license but have enough back yard to get some confidence on it before I get on the actual bitumen.
